Shuswap Excavation Contractors Since 2014

Tappen-based. Shuswap-built. COR certified.

Our Story

We've been digging holes in the Shuswap since we were kids — and getting paid for it since 2014.

Dan Winkler started Winco with one excavator and a straightforward approach: show up when you say you will, do the job right, and don't surprise people with the price. Twelve years later that's still the whole philosophy — it just comes with a bigger equipment yard.

What Makes a Difference on a Shuswap Earthworks Project

Our Team

Dan and his brother Tim run the operation out of Tappen. They know the Shuswap's soil, they know the CSRD permit process, and they know what it takes to get a project from raw land to finished and approved without the wheels coming off. Most of their work comes from referrals, which tends to be what happens when you under-promise and over-deliver long enough.

The crew expands seasonally to meet demand — right-sized for whatever the job calls for, and every member trained to the same safety standards Dan holds himself to.

Local Expertise

We're not just working in the Shuswap—we're part of it. We understand local soil conditions, CSRD permit requirements, and the unique challenges of building in this region.

We use all that knowledge to make sure your project runs smoothly, without surprise delays, and on budget.

Comprehensive Equipment Fleet

We carry the equipment to handle any scale — from compact residential lots where access is tight, to large acreage clearing and commercial site prep. The right machine for your site means the job gets done faster and without unnecessary damage to your property.

Septic Systems: End-to-End Installation

Winco already offers start to finish septic installation — from initial site assessment through design, permits, installation, and final Interior Health approval. Right now that means working with a trusted engineering partner for the design phase, with Winco coordinating everything so you're never managing two contractors.

When Winco's ROWP certification comes through, design moves fully in-house — one team, one point of contact, start to finish. Either way, you make one call and we handle the rest.

Our Commitment

Every project we take on reflects on our family name and our reputation in this community. That's why we approach each job, whether it's a small residential repair or a major commercial excavation, with the same commitment to quality and professionalism.

When you work with us, you're working with a local company that will still be here years from now. We stand behind our work because this is our home too.
